I was in Wayland last week to catch up with Alison, a friend of mine whom I worked with when I first moved to Boston ten years ago. Back then, she and her now-husband, Rick, were newly engaged and had just bought their first home together, in Wayland. Alison and I hadn't seen each other in a few years, so I was very excited to see her and get a tour of the new house that she, Rick, and their three boys (including twins!) moved into last year.
Well, let me tell you, the house did not disappoint. Au contraire! The exterior architecture reminded me of my home tourLabor of love. Alison is currently working with designer Meredith Rodday, creator of view from my heels, to furnish and style the interior. As soon as they finish their projects, I promise to share the details. Trust me: it's going to be gorgeous!
The builder knocked down an old house to build this new one. Because Alison and Rick got involved in the process very early on, they were able to chose many of the finishing details.
Meredith was styling the kitchen on the same day that I was there, and it was fun to watch her do her magic. The kitchen alone is gorgeous, but once she added some extra decorative accents, it was perfect.
A favorite blog of mine is Studio McGee. My friend Jenny, owner of the Farrington Ave home, introduced me to it. Studio McGee has a great web series in which they talk about their recent projects. Take a look at the video below. It's amazing how similar Alison's kitchen is to the one featured, and Meredith uses many of the same styling techniques.
